50 Halloween Crafts for Kids
Ideas are never too many when we need to entertain our children! The rainy days are starting, and us moms need to roll up our sleeves to find cheerful alternatives for play. We have no choice but to rely on creativity! Today, I’ve gathered for you 50 Halloween crafts to do with kids: simple activities, many of which use recycled materials to teach our children about reusing from a young age.
Many ideas are new… created specifically by me these days, while others have been made over the years and published on other websites, but in all of them, you’ll find explanations.

1. The Cardboard Monster
Paint the outside of an egg carton with black acrylic paint. Once dry, paint the inside red.
Create the teeth with white cardboard and glue them inside. Draw a tongue on red cardboard and glue it above the teeth.
Finally, glue two large wobbly eyes.
The cardboard monster is a monster that can hold toys and candy; have fun filling its big mouth!
2. Monster Eyes
Draw 3 large circles on orange, purple, and green cardboard (use a compass for help).
Create 3 smaller circles on white cardboard and do the same on black cardboard.
Glue the white circle in the center of each colored circle, then add the black circle at the bottom.
The big monster eyes are perfect for decorating a room; hang them up as I did with a piece of washi tape, or alternatively, punch holes and make a long garland!
3. The Owl
Take a cardboard tube and paint it pink.
Glue two purple feathers on the side and two wobbly eyes in the center.
Add a triangle-shaped nose below the owl’s eyes!
4. The Pumpkin
Take a cardboard roll and cut it in half. Fold the top part inward.
Paint the outside with orange acrylic paint. When dry, add a pair of wobbly eyes.
Make a curl with a green chenille stem and place it on the folded opening. Draw a nose and a smiling mouth with a marker.
5. The Green Monster
Paint the outside of a cardboard tube with green acrylic paint.
Once dry, create the monster’s hair with black acrylic paint.
Glue two green wobbly eyes and draw a nose and mouth.
6. The Mummy
Cut a long strip of white crepe paper, and wrap it around your cardboard tube.
Glue two wobbly eyes.
7. The Bat
Fold the ends of the cardboard tube inward.
Paint the entire outside with black acrylic paint. Glue two wobbly eyes.
Create bat wings from cardboard and glue them to the back. Draw a mouth with whiteout and glue two pointy teeth made from paper.
8. The Haunted House
To create the haunted house, you will need a cardboard box, two tubes, tissue paper, and card stock.
Cut the cardboard box: keep the center part and the two side rectangles.
Paint the entire box with black acrylic paint, and once dry, cut out two small windows. Glue parts made from brown card stock: roof, door, and window tops. Draw details on the card stock with a marker, like roof tiles or the door’s window.
Also, paint the cardboard tubes black, cut out a couple of small windows, and make a cone-shaped roof from card stock.
Glue green tissue paper behind the windows.
Create a small ghost from white card stock and place it on the front of the house.
Illuminate your haunted house using Christmas lights, place them in the back and cover them with the remaining tissue paper.
9. The Owl on a Plate
Paint a paper plate with black acrylic paint and let it dry.
Create the owl’s wings from orange and purple card stock. Also create a triangular-shaped beak and glue it onto the plate.
Cut out two white circles and two black circles to make the eyes. Cut red card stock for the owl’s feet.
Glue all the elements together and start playing!
10. The Pumpkin Dressed as a Black Cat
Take a small pumpkin (like the decorative ones) and paint it black.
Create two pointy ears from black card stock and glue them on top of the pumpkin.
Make whiskers from card stock and glue them in the center with a white pom-pom.
Finally, glue two large wobbly eyes.
11. The Ghost Leaf
Paint a Magnolia leaf white.
Once dry, create the mouth and eyes with black paint.
12. The Monster Leaf
Paint the entire surface of the leaf with green paint, then use black paint to draw hair, eyes, and a sewn mouth.
13. The Pumpkin Leaf
Paint the entire leaf orange, then create eyes, mouth, and nose with black paint.
14. The Pinecone Spider
Paint the pinecone black and glue eight pipe cleaners to form the spider’s legs.
15. The Paper Ghost
Draw a circle on a piece of paper and cut it into a spiral.
Draw two eyes and a mouth in the center of the spiral.
Hang your paper ghost!
16. The Paper Pumpkin
Cut several equal strips of orange paper. Make a small hole at the ends of each strip. Overlap them one on top of the other and insert a chenille stem through the holes. Bend the stem to keep the paper strips in place, and twist the remaining stem to create the pumpkin’s curl.
Open the strips and arrange them to form a paper pumpkin.
I made a similar tutorial to create Christmas ornaments (see all the steps here).
17. The Pasta Skeleton
On a black sheet of paper, place different types of pasta.
Use fusilli, shells, and bowtie pasta to create the bones of the skeleton.
Your sheet of paper will now look like an X-ray!
18. The Stick Pumpkin
Line up 11 orange wooden sticks.
Glue them together, placing two sticks of different colors horizontally at the top and bottom.
Glue two googly eyes in the center. Draw a nose and a toothless mouth with a black marker. Add a curl made with a green chenille stem.
19. The Witch’s Broom
Cut many small pieces of raffia and tie them together with a stick.
The witch’s broom is ready!
20. The Cardboard Spider
Create the spider’s body by cutting an oval shape from cardboard.
Cut three strips of paper, long and fold them like an accordion.
Glue the strips underneath the spider’s body.
Finally, draw eyes and a mouth with a marker.
21. The Cotton Ghosts
Take 3 pieces of hydrophilic cotton, stretch them to give them an elongated shape.
Glue two black eyes and a round mouth made from cardboard onto them.
22. The Fan Pumpkin
Take two sheets of orange paper and fold both of them accordion-style.
Fold the resulting accordion in half.
Join the two folded sheets using a chenille stem, insert it in the middle and then glue the sheets together so they stay in place and form a large wheel.
