Let’s kick off this autumn month with a fun tutorial for the upcoming Halloween celebration! Today, Valentina shares with us a simple craft project to make with kids: a magic pumpkin created with a jar, paint, and glitter. It’s like a snow globe in an orange version that will also delight the little ones.
The Magic Pumpkin
Here’s a pumpkin that’s not scary but made to enchant our kids—a pumpkin with a magical surprise inside. It’s a very simple project that even the youngest children can make with the help of an adult.
Materials
A glass jar with an airtight lid (preferably round, or a plastic jar for younger kids), scissors, dried leaves, glue, paper, paint (watercolors or tempera), a paintbrush, glitter, sparkles, beads, sequins, and double-sided tape.
How to Make It
Fill the glass jar with glitter, sparkles, beads, and anything shiny. Add water and color it orange. We used watercolors for a matte effect. For a transparent look, use an orange marker and dip the tip directly into the water. Fill the jar to the brim with water and seal it tightly. Dry the jar, cut out “pumpkin faces,” and stick them on.
Decorate the pumpkin with dried leaves fixed using double-sided tape.
Now shake the jar well and admire—it will create a whirlwind of sparkles, reflections, and glimmers!
