Olaf, the funny snowman who loves summer, a character from Disney’s latest movie Frozen, has become a favorite among children. It was impossible not to transform him into a fun Carnival mask! So today, we’ll create Olaf’s mask together using foam sheets and a few other materials!
La maschera di Olaf
What you’ll need:
- 1 A3 sheet of white foam
- Pencil
- Hot glue gun
- Acrylic paints
- Paintbrushes
- Scissors
- Paper and printer
- Pattern (download here)
Here’s how to make the mask:
Print the base shapes on paper (recycled paper works great) and cut them out with scissors. Place the shapes on the foam sheet and trace the shapes with a pencil. Cut out all the pieces using scissors.
Now, color some parts with acrylic paints and a paintbrush: Take the bottom of the mask and paint it gray, while the nose will be painted orange. The front part of the mask should be finished with blue details to outline the eyes and smile. Also, finish the tooth with blue.
With scraps of foam, create the sticks to place on the head. These will be painted brown, as will the eyebrows. Use hot glue to attach the tooth to the back of the front part. Also, glue the fake sticks.
Glue the front part to the base, then apply the eyes and eyebrows. The black pupil part should be cut in such a way as to create a hole for the eyes. To create the nose, roll the orange foam into a cone shape and secure it with hot glue. Apply it to the front part.
Now, the mask is ready! To wear it, simply make two holes on the sides and insert an elastic band, or attach it with two safety pins to a white wool hat.
The Costume
For the body, I suggest using an old white fleece sweatshirt or pajama and adding fake coal pieces made of paper, applying them with double-sided tape or safety pins. Also, check out the other tutorials to make Elsa’s costume, the queen! https://www.paneamoreecreativita.it/blog/tag/frozen/
